The Toronto Christmas Market is pleased to present over 400 free performances on the main stage including award-winning singers, brass bands, cultural dancers, and carolers.

This year’s schedule includes themed entertainment each day (subject to change):

  • TUESDAYS: Traditional Tuesdays - bluegrass, folk, roots, traditional
  • WEDNESDAYS: World Wednesdays - world music, dance, and cultural performances
  • THURSDAYS: Classical Thursdays - Seasonal opera, oratorio, and cross-over Classical performances
  • FRIDAYS: Friday Night Jazz – holiday jazz and swing
  • SATURDAYS: Pop/Variety Saturdays - Emerging artists (afternoon) and Featured artists (evening), performing pop, rock, Adult Contemporary, blues, and more
  • SUNDAYS: Ensemble Sundays – Instrumental Ensembles (afternoon), Vocal ensembles and Choirs (evening)

Kalya Ramu’s Hot Four

Founded by Toronto vocalist Kalya Ramu, Kal’s Hot Four revives music of the golden age of swing, performing their own quirky arrangements of rarely recorded standards from the 1920's-40's. The band draws influence from the sound of Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and Doris Day.

Experience the joy of Christmas through the voices of these singing angels. St. Clare Children’s choir was formed two years ago and is composed of 20 talented children ranging from the age of 7-15. Under the direction of their conductor Antonella Cavallaro , they will dazzle with their rendition of Italian Christmas carols. Enjoy some Christmas Classics with an Italian twist as they take you on a journey through bella Italia!

The Randolph Glee Choir is a mixed youth show choir that performs throughout the GTA. This non-competitive group works on performance-geared pop and rock pieces featuring harmonies and upbeat choreography taught by industry professionals. Randolph Glee Choir is excited to be performing and sharing the holiday spirit for the 5th year in a row with the Christmas Market.

JAMsession Quartet

As long time friends, Linda, Lesley, Christine and Sally are a quartet who loves to sing and join in the party. As “JAMsession”, they have been singing a cappela for many years. We perform both on stage and at stroll-through events, since we require no musical accompaniment.  Our first CD entitled 'Christmas Dreams' has been released, and their repertoire also includes popular and jazz standards in addition to Christmas favourites. This warm and friendly singing style will encourage you to enjoy the special magic of close four-part harmony.

For more than 35 years, the handbell and chime choirs of St. John’s have been ringing for services and special events. Under the direction of Carolyn Martin, players of all ages have the opportunity to learn to read music, to play a unique instrument, and to be part of a music team. The Toronto Christmas Market is pleased to welcome their adult group, the Ingram Ringers, again!

Hogtown Brass Ensemble

These musicians from downtown Toronto have been generating a serious buzz with their authentic 1930s sound and entertaining show. Sonically, they combine the tight, elegant sound of Django Reinhardt and the Quintette of the Hot Club de France with the dazzling group vocals of the Boswell Sisters and Mills Brothers. The band enjoys a Friday afternoon residency at the respected Rex Hotel in downtown Toronto, and is quickly becoming a concert and festival favourite.

Mimi O'Bonsawin is an Award winning, Contemporary roots songwriter that is inspired by her French Canadian and indigenous heritage . Alberta Rose

Christmas, music, and love are about the strongest ties that can bind a couple together, and Alex and Jessi wouldn't be here if it weren't for all three. After all, The Christmas Market is the reason Alex and Jessi together! Alex and Jessi met and have been singing in bars and stages across Ontario, blending their folk harmonies with a pop sensibility similar to The Civil Wars, Of Monsters and Men, and Johnny Cash & June Carter since 2014. Last year, Alex proposed to Jessi at the Toronto Christmas Market on stage, so you never know what will happen this year!

Toronto Swedish Folk Dancers

The TSFS now has the only dance group in Canada whose focus remains traditional Swedish folkdancing. Over the years they have had the pleasure of performing for a range of audiences in many different locations and countries, including many folk festivals in North America and Europe. The folkdancers had their very first performance in 1982, and have had the great honour of dancing for King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Sylvia during a visit to Toronto and we were delighted to perform during the Quebec Winter Carnival the year that Sweden was featured.

The Ault Sisters

Amanda, Alicia, and Alanna Ault. They are known for their signature close harmonies, reminiscent of such past vocal groups as The Manhattan Transfer, The Andrew Sisters and The McGuire Sisters. They are extremely versatile singers, with a genre-defying repertoire that draws from jazz, pop, r&b, blues, funk, folk, and even classic rock. The trio has performed at clubs and festivals such as Toronto’s Jazz Bistro, Hugh’s Room, The Beaches International Jazz Festival, the Oakville Jazz Festival, and Toronto’s SING! Festival. They are currently performing on Zoomer Media’s television show, “Your All Time Classic Hit Parade”, which began airing in November, 2017 on VisionTV. The Ault Sisters have just completed a new album entitled Sisters In Song which was released in July, 2018 – a tribute to the famous sister groups such as The Andrews Sisters, The McGuire Sisters, The Pointer Sisters, and Heart, who have greatly inspired and influenced their music.

Soprano Irina Medvedeva is described as being a “flexible, supple, yet powerful soprano” (The Globe and Mail). Notable operatic roles include Norina (Don Pasquale), Vixen (Cunning Little Vixen), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Morgana (Alcina), La Fée (Cendrillon). Young Voices Toronto

Young Voices Toronto (YVT) offers exceptional music education and choral training to Toronto youth ages 4 to 18 for over 30 years. Led by Artistic Director, Maria Conkey, the groups’ three choral divisions perform twice per year (June and December) in self-produced concerts at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre for the Arts, and the older choral divisions also participate in festivals, concerts with other musical organizations, and tours. YVT is the children's choir-in-residence at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music. @YoungVoicesToronto

JAMsession Quartet

As long time friends, Linda, Lesley, Christine and Sally are a quartet who loves to sing and join in the party. As “JAMsession”, they have been singing a cappela for many years. We perform both on stage and at stroll-through events, since we require no musical accompaniment.  Our first CD entitled 'Christmas Dreams' has been released, and their repertoire also includes popular and jazz standards in addition to Christmas favourites. This warm and friendly singing style will encourage you to enjoy the special magic of close four-part harmony.

ORIANA Women’s Choir

In the 45 years since its founding, ORIANA has continually aimed for excellence in performance.  The choir has a strong focus on Canadian compositions, expanding the choral repertoire for women’s voices and promoting Canadian composers. Since Artistic Director Mitchell Pady joined ORIANA in 2011, the choir has welcomed several composers in residence and has premiered many new Canadian works or arrangements.

Hogtown Brass Ensemble

These musicians from downtown Toronto have been generating a serious buzz with their authentic 1930s sound and entertaining show. Sonically, they combine the tight, elegant sound of Django Reinhardt and the Quintette of the Hot Club de France with the dazzling group vocals of the Boswell Sisters and Mills Brothers. The band enjoys a Friday afternoon residency at the respected Rex Hotel in downtown Toronto, and is quickly becoming a concert and festival favourite.

Arkan Ensemble

The Ukrainian Academy of Dance has trained over 1500 dancers since it was founded in 1987. This year the school is celebrating its 32nd anniversary. Arkan Dance Company was launched as the performing ensemble of the Academy. Since their formation, Arkan has performed at International festivals in Florida, New York and Boston, U.S.A, Taiwan, Brazil, at Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba, Drummondville, Quebec, Nova Scotia, China, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Korea, Ukraine and Indonesia. Arkan and The Academy will be travelling to Ukraine next summer.

The Heavyweights Brass Band

Ryenamics

What started out as a small group of students singing in the stairwell has grown into a family that has become its own.  Having performed in their own concert at the Parodos Festival and being mentored by Pitch Perfect and Pentatonix composer Ben Bram, Ryerson’s premier A cappella group has devoted their time and incredible talents to the musical art of A cappella. Always improving, Ryenamics' constant drive is distilling the complexity of modern instrumental music down to its purest form - the human voice.
