Photo Contest

Last year thousands rediscovered the magic of Christmas through their camera lenses with the Toronto Christmas Market's inaugural Photo Contest.

This year, the Toronto Christmas Market is again in search of a photograph that captures the true essence of the magic and romance experienced at the event.

 

Winner will receive $250 cash prize

2nd place will receive $150 restaurant gift certificate

3rd place will receive $100 restaurant gift certificate

World Caroling Challenge

Join us TBA for the Mill Street World Caroling Challenge at the  Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District. Mill Street will hand out reusable LED candles and candleholders and will to donate $1 to Daily Bread Food Bank for every person that participates. In addition, we encourage and welcome visitors to bring non-perishable food donations to give the daily Bread Food Bank.

This holiday season Toronto will once again celebrate the romance and magic of a traditional Christmas at the Toronto Christmas Market. Inspired by the Old World and influenced by the New, this free annual event captures all of the tradition, heritage and charm of a European Christmas Market, while showcasing hundreds of unique and local handcrafted products. Family friendly entertainment includes musicians, carolers and children's choirs.

What is a Christmas Market?

A Christmas market is a street market which celebrates the traditional sights, sounds and scents of Christmas and is staged during the weeks leading up to Christmas. These markets originated in Germany, beginning in the early 1400's, and are now being held in countries all over the world.

Massive Christmas Tree donated by

Trees Ontario

The 45 foot White Spruce tree featured at this year's Market was donated by Trees Ontario. Working with its partners, Trees Ontario’s goal is to support the planting of 10 million trees a year to ensure the health of future generations. Be sure to drop by the Trees Ontario booth to buy your Christmas trees, wreaths and green gifts in support of our tree planting programs.

Magical lighting and seasonal décor

Magical lighting and décor displays which create an incredible traditional and romantic Christmas setting for visitors to enjoy. The street and squares of the Historic Distillery are transformed into a paradise of lights and colours, festive sounds and seductive smells.

Musical Entertainment

The stage hosts many activities and musical performances including: Carolers, Bavarian brass band concerts, classical organ concerts, trumpeters, children's choirs and more. An outdoor seating area is created around the stage

Variety of beer and mulled wine (Glühwein) gardens

There are many areas for visitors to lounge and enjoy an authentic holiday beverage including many varieties of beer, mulled wine, hot rum beverages, European Christmas cocktails and much more. Enter into the south parking lot off of Parliament Street

(south of Front Street)

Car drop off at Ferris Wheel, cars must be picked up by 11pm.

The best way to get to the to the Lowe’s Toronto Christmas Market is with the TTC

 

From King or St Andrew stations, take an eastbound 504 King streetcar to Parliament Street and proceed two blocks south to the Parliament entrance into the Distillery.

 

From King Station, take the 72 Pape bus to Mill Street and
 Parliament Street and enter at the Parliament entrance.

 

From Castle Frank Station, take the 65 Parliament bus south to one block south of Front Street and enter at the Parliament entrance. For more information on schedules and maps, please visit www.ttc.ca.

From the East:

Don Valley Parkway to Richmond St. exit, west on Richmond to Parliament, south on Parliament to Mill St.

(one block south of Front St.), Look for parking nearby.

 

Kingston Road to Eastern Ave. Then proceed to Front St. West on Front to Parliament, then south on Parliament to Mill St.

Look for parking nearby.

 

Queen St. west to Parliament then south on Parliament to Mill St., the Distillery will be on your left hand side.

 

 From the West:

QEW east to Gardiner Expressway. Take Jarvis St. exit, then north on Jarvis St. to Front St., East on Front to Parliament St.

then south on Parliament, , the Distillery will be on your left hand side.

 

From the North:

427 south to QEW. QEW east to Gardiner Expressway. Take Jarvis St. exit, then north on Jarvis St. to Front St. , East on Front

to Parliament St. then south on Parliament to Mill St., Look for parking nearby.

GO Transit

 

GO makes it easy to visit the Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market. Take the GO to Union Station. walk North to King Street and take the 504 King streetcar using the directions above, or take a short 5 minute taxi ride from Union Station to the Distillery.

The Distillery Historic District is an accessible site. The Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market at The Distillery District provides for mobility-accessible parking, ramp access to buildings, shops and restaurants, washrooms with child changing facilities, and wheelchair accessible stalls. We remind all visitors of the Distillery Historic District that the streets inside the District are made of cobble stone and are in some locations uneven, and that the popularity of the Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market gives way to large crowds during peak times (evenings and weekends).

$5.00 is donated with each purchase of a photo with Santa.

The Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund was established in 1906 by Toronto Star Founder, Joseph E. Atkinson. In 2008 Toronto Star Santa Claus distributed Christmas gift boxes to 45,000 needy children.
